Dogs
EASY
Inexpensive
CUTE

Puppy Cake
I used a 8" Round pan and a 6" round pan.
1 boxed cake mix to fill Both. $1.00
Oil and eggs $ 1.00
I simply cut the 6" cake in half and placed them on each side of the 8" to make the ears.
1 Chocolate, 1 Vanilla Canned Frosting $3.00
You don't even have to smooth it. I purposely swirled it in small strokes with a knife to give him texture. Add black food coloring to some of the chocolate for the eyes and nose. If you don't have decorating bags and tips you can cut the corner of a ziploc bag, fill it with the black frosting and use it to draw the mouth and eyebrows.
For $5.00 you have a cute, easy cake. However if you splurge for $2.00 more you can get the Pillsbury Sugar Cookie Dough, which I only used 1/2 of the package. (And yes I got the ones you don't even have to slice. just pop them on a cookie sheet and bake) Add chocolate frosting circles and now you have a whole display.

Yarn Puppy Dog
You will need
-
Yarn - any color you want.
-
A jar - about 5" tall I used a small plastic peanut butter jar. (You could also use a sock filled like you would with the Sock Gnomes (See Gnomes Page).
-
A piece of felt - the same color as the yarn.
-
1 Piece of cardboard 5" wide - If your jar is larger adjust the size so the smaller cardboard is the same as the height as your jar.
-
1 piece of cardboard 6" wide - Again adjust if height of jar is different.
-
You'll also need something for eyes and a nose - I used wooden half spheres I painted black. You could use black felt circles, googly eyes etc
-
A small bow

Wash Cloth Puppy

Roll Wash Cloth to the halfway point as tightly as you can.

Roll the other side up towards the first

Fold in half with roll sides facing out

Rubber Band it 1/3 of the way up. The rolls are going to be your feet.

At the folded end, fold JUST THE FRONT LAYER into a muzzle. Play with it til you get the desired shape you want.

Rubber band it into place

Fold and cut a piece of felt to make ears. I like long ears but they can be any length or width you'd like

Feed the ears through the gap in the wash cloths in the head

Glue on eyes, tongue and and a nose and your done.

I found these Microfiber Screen Cleaners at Dollar Tree. They are kind of like a mitten without the thumb. I simply stuffed them with polyfill and glued a felt circle on the bottom to close it up. Simple, Easy, 5 minute puppy dog, The chalkboard heart is also a DT find. I used the Cricut for the letters but a paint pen would work too.

These Faux Fur Pom Poms make really cute animals. Turn then into key chains, refrigerator magnets, cute party favors or ..... GNOMES :D

Cats

Cat Rope Container
This is made by wrapping rope around an empty frosting container. Use it to to hold silverware or napkins for a party. Or pens and pencils at a desk

Hello Kitty Cake
Frost your cake normally. Draw her head on with a toothpick and fill in the white. Add the pink next. Pink and White are more forgiving if you make a mistake, so you do those first. Outline in black to finish.

Safari and Jungle Animals

Zebra Cake
Zebra is made of Marshmallow Fondant. I used it a lot like Play Doh to make cake accents.

Monkey Cake
This was made with a Wilton Cake Pan

Safari Cake
Fondant silhouettes and some food spray paint bring this cake to life

Elephant Race
Divide all the kids into two teams, and have them line up. First kid bends at the waist, puts one arm in front of their face like an elephant’s trunk, and puts their other hand through their legs toward the person behind them as their tail.
The next kid bends over, grabs the first kid’s “tail” with their “trunk”, then extends their “tail” through their legs, and so on until you have two teams of “elephants”, lined up and ready to go. Then have a race (you can do this a couple of times to let other kids be the elephant leader).
Monkey See Monkey Do
This game is similar to the classic “Simon says”, only with a safari theme party twist. Give the kids commands to make animal sounds or move like animals. For example: Monkey says, “Swing your trunk like an elephant.” Monkey says, “Run like a Cheetah.” “Squeal like a monkey!” and so on.
Guess Your Animal Game
Tape a paper with a picture or name of an animal on the kids’ (and parents’) back. The kids have to ask “Yes” and “No” questions until they find out what their animal is.
Games

Lion, Zebra and Elephant are made from painted coffee creamer container. Add some felt, eyes, pom poms and foam board and you have your own Safari Adventure

Of course you need Binoculars for your Safari Adventure. Painted Toilet Paper Rolls and some string can help bring those animals into your sights.

Pajama Party
Pink Pajamas With Penguins on the Bottom
Disney's Movie The Lion King, the opening words from "The Circle of Life" are often mistaken for them singing "Pink Pajamas with Penguins on the Bottom". You have to admit it's a lot easier to sing a long to then the actual words "Ingonyama nengwe namabala."

Milk Jug Penguin
A Milk Jug painted black, Felt, Foam Board and Plastic Eyes are easily turned into a playful penguin complete with fish
